BULLET PROOF DEFINED

BLACK RUBICON

We have this Rubi here for some heavy metal.

This skid plate is more than just that. Undercover fab provides the skid made from 1/4" steel for the low profile skid, and transmission mount. Beauty and the beast in one functional skid.

2002 COPPER TJ SPORT

Here is another TJ with some beef to it. Poison Spyder is supplying the trail cage kit we are installing to this jeep. The trail cage replaces the bar that runs from the "B" pillar, to the "A" pillar, which in turn bolts up to the windshield frame. The tubing runs down from the windshield to a specialized plate at the dash, which in turn runs to the floor and bolts there on both sides. Tubing runs from left to right along the top windshield frame, as well as another tubing that does the same just above the dash.

The picture above shows the additional tubing that runs from the top of the windshield, back to the factory "B" pillar tubing, allowing for some of the safest wheeling that you will ever have, short of sitting at home watching a dvd.

MIATA

We are getting close to finishing this racer with the cage nearing the final stage of welding.

MUD DRAGGER

The transmission has been completed and re-installed. As you take a look at the rear axle housing above notice the two arrows pointing to damage caused by some very violent torque twisting. This housing was custom built by us years ago, and needs some tlc to get it back into shape again!

WINCH REBUILD

Here we have a Warn 9.5ti winch in for a rebuild. If you have a problem with something that associates with wheeling or racing, we can fix it! NOW, if it's your significant other, you are on your own......

DANA 30

Joe is getting down to business as usual with a re-gear. Gutting out the stock gears, and re-installing some nice 4.56 ratio gears. We have an extremely talented staff here that assist me with every project. I also have to mention that we are an Undercover Fab and Poison Spyder dealer, come see what we can do for you!

BULL IN A CHINA SHOP!

MUD DRAGSTER

This monster has come in for some new parts after it chewed and spit out what it didn't want!

Here is a shot of the ring and pinion gears, this is what can happen when you're running 1800HP!!

Here is a shot of the bearings as well. We are also refreshing the transmission, and rebuilding the rear differential.

MIATA

We have started bending the roll cage for this racer and started placing tubing in place for a mock up, proper placement and tie-in has to be precise.

THE AFTERMATH!!

2004 RED RUBICON

We have our first victim from the Jeep Jamboree this past weekend! This Rubi suffers from a broken axle shaft, so we ordered a set of G2 chromoly shafts to cure that problem and hopefully stop it from happening again. We also have to address the transmission mount, along with replacing ball joints and track bar bushings that are all due for service.

2003 BLACK RUBICON

Here is the second victim of the Jamboree. This jeep suffers from "whoops, crap"! The owner hit an object which the stock skid plate didn't like, and stuffed it 3" up. The skid needs to be fixed, along with the T-Case linkage needing work since it would only operate in 4LO. The relationship between the skid plate and the body is very important as the transfercase linkage depends on this location.

COMANCHE

Unfortunately the Indian had an issue as well. The hydroboost braking system decided to crap out and release some nice (not really) metal flakes into the power steering system! (Bang head on wall here.) Sooo..... we needed to flush out the power steering system and we added a screw on filter which is also used as an oil filter for the JK. Yea, yea, I know I should have had a filter on it before! Lighten up will ya?!?!? There are several reservoir/filter systems and remote mount fitler setups on the market, any of which would work fine. However, space is a bit tight and I didn’t want to move the reservoir, re-plumb the hoses, etc so it was easiest to create a custom setup at this point. Probably not the cheapest, but still the easiest.

TAHOE

We have this Chevy in for some minor front end service. The customer had been complaining that the front end was a bit loose. Well no wonder! We found the pitman arm, idler arm, and a few tie rod ends were all loose. We replaced the guilty parts, performed an alignment and sent him on his way.

MIATA

We have the racing seat mocked-up for the driver, and I'm currently designing the roll cage around the drivers specs. Have you tried fitting a 6’4” driver into a Miata? My head hurts already!

Willys!

We have completed the electrical system wiring, resolved the T-Case issue, and installed the new windshield frame and glass. The new owner is very excited and will be taking delivery this week.

PONTIAC SOLSTICE

We have finished up all of the pre-race prep and maintenance, and installed a shift light, water temp gauge and over temp warning light along with installing a new sending unit. This should wrap things up for this racer for this visit.

THE RACERS EDGE

You might notice the blog is a little sparse this week because we are prepping for the 5th annual Killington Jeep Jamboree. Be sure to get signed up for this event next year, and look for it this December because it sells out fast! To find out more, visit the link below.

2006 PONTIAC SOLSTICE

This racer has been waiting for the right moment to come out and play.

We have this Pontiac in for a race prep and install a water gauge and warning light combination to keep the driver informed. We will also be performing a chassis set-up, and a between race prep. Race day is coming, will you be ready??

1998 MAZDA MIATA

Here is another racer waiting to start a new life.

We gutted out the interior to make room for a full SCCA roll cage. Like I keep spreading the word, we are more than just a 4X4 shop! Come over and see us, and let us design your next dream ride, or tweak what you have.

THE LONE GUNMAN........

VETERAN LANDCRUISER

This old soldier had the interior removed and is getting ready to head out on a mission for new paint inside and out. New uniform for a seasoned vet.

THE COMANCHE

The Indian is getting some cool gadgets! Take a good look at the front bumper hoop. The clear plastic box that is clamped to the hoop is the holder for a Go Pro Hero video camera. Nice video of the trail to brag about when you have company over at the house when it decides to rain (or snow). The shifter is getting some fine tuning for better engagement.

The rear has received a tool box for all of the goodies to come, and a nice trick removable mud flap that is designed to mount, and remove from the receiver hitch. Very cool.

Spencer is using the plasma torch to add some holes to the skid plate. After wheeling the Indian over the weekend, we found some warmer than we wanted temps under this jeep. Adding these should resolve the problem without compromising strength.

Here is a shot of the CB radio mount between the seats on the back wall.

I fabricated a set of guages to montior the engine. I was originally going to use just the factory lights but with all of the time and money invested, I decided it would be best to see what was going on before an "oh crap" happened.

Here is the panel ready to be installed. I had to seal the heating duct and make a hole where the small cubby hole was, (it was useless anyway) for the wiring. We also had to revamp the transmission cooling system to work out some bugs, along with some other minor issues.

                                                              MONSTER JEEP

We got the beast in to install a better transmission cooler for more reliable wheeling.

We also installed a set of warning lights for the water, transmission, and low oil pressure.
This will make things much better instead of trying to look at a guage bouncing around.

Finally we installed a new differential cover by Dynatrac. The factory cover couldn't take the punishment the monster dished out.......go figure.......factory parts break!

                                                                 WILLYS!

The Willys we sold within a few days of buying it, has returned to us. We are starting on installing all of the electrical harness to give this old warrior life again. The T-case has an issue with the linkage so we are working on solving that. We have a new windshield and frame since the other was battered by rust. I also had to mentioned that these jeeps are only 58" wide, just a hair wider than the popular UTV's that are out on the trails!
                                                             GREEN CHEROKEE

We have this jeep in for a few issues.

We are installing extended length shackles in the rear for more travel. We are also replacing the front inner axle seals, as well as the outer axle tube seals to keep all fluids in check.

Finally we needed to repair the rear bumper by adding 1/4" plate steel to reinforce the weak areas for this beefy bumper to do the job properly.

THE LITTLE THINGS........

1957 JEEP FC150

We got this "Forward Control" Jeep in for an evaluation when it could not pass for an inspection at another station. We need to go through this honey and give the report to the owner, and wait.

2006 PONTIAC SOLSTICE

This SCCA racer came to us for a pre-race check over, along with some minor upgrades. Once those are done, we will "set-up" the chassis for the track. We do it all from Crawlers to Screamers!!

VETERAN LANDCRUISER

We have slowed down on this Toyota in waiting for the owner to decide if he wants to paint the interior, since he is painting the exterior and the top. So for now, we are filling in the body holes along with smoothing out the side steps before paint.

THE COMANCHE

We have gotten closer with this Indian.

We installed the seats along with getting the shifter buttoned up. We started the install of the center console as well, and finding places for the basics such as a First Aid kit, and a snatch strap. We were able to get the parking brake ready as well. We are working on the rear brakes to convert them over to disc. The shock covers were mounted up and tested with the spare tire for clearance. The rear swaybar links are in and the suspension should be all set now. Finally we fabricated a custom billet mount for the Hi-Lift jack!

1982 CHEVY C-10

We have this Chevy in for a 700R4 transmission rebuild which we finished up and buttoned up. The cool part of this truck is the fact it came from the factory as a 2 wheel drive, 1/2 ton, with a 6.2 diesel engine. Very nice.

RED COMANCHE

We are going to do a rear axle swap on this Indian since the factory model went boom, and took a nap after, and then fixing the windshield wiper motor to boot. This has been an ongoing project, fitting it in when time allows as the customer is in no hurry yet. He turns 16 in August, so he might start getting more anxious soon.....

WILLYS!!!

This is too funny. When I bought this beauty and had it posted to our blog, we sold it that Saturday! Now the new owner is having us repair the T-Case along with a complete electric wiring install. Rounding out the project will be a replacement windshield and frame.

1986 CJ-7

Last entry for today come to us as an axle upgrade. We will be swapping out the gears for some fresh 4.56 meats, and installing a Detroit locker in the rear for some extra pushing power!
